Green Islamic Movement’s Role in Environmental Conservation

In his presentation, Testriono said that the Green Islam Movement is a joint effort or collective action that uses the principles of Islamic teachings in efforts to conserve nature.
nature conservation. The research results show that there are 142 Green Islam organizations or communities out of 192 faith-based environmental movements in Indonesia.

The research shows that Green Islam’s strategies include social media campaigns and environmental conservation actions. Additionally, it highlights the dissemination of pro-environmental values to congregations, along with advocacy for affected communities. However, the Green Islam Movement has struggled to gain recognition due to limited knowledge about its principles. Furthermore, a lack of inclusivity in implementing green faith has further hindered its growth. Moreover, fragmentation among groups has weakened the movement’s unity. As a result, the focus on addressing local issues has significantly limited its broader impact.

Panelists Call for Greater Collaboration and Government Support

The panelists argued that the Green Islamic Movement should be a collaborative effort, not fragmented. They emphasized the need for greater unity in the movement’s activities. The panelists suggested consolidating efforts with the government to gain support.

Wide Enthusiasm for the Green Islamic Movement

Various parties, including community organizations, environmental activists, NGOs, academics from universities, and government actors, enthusiastically attended this activity.
