On June 19, 2024, the Faculty of Social Sciences at UIII hosted Brownbag 53, titled “ASEAN and the Myanmar Problem: What Else Can Be Done?” featuring Dr. Aarie Glas, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Northern Illinois University. Dr. Glas, a scholar of regionalism and diplomacy, shared insights from his work on Southeast Asian and South American conflict management, as well as his recent book “Practicing Peace: Conflict Management in Southeast Asia and South America” (Oxford University Press, 2022), which was named one of the Top 10 Books of 2023 by International Affairs. The event, held from 13:30 to 15:00 Jakarta Time in the Teleconference Room, Faculty B Building, UIII, provided a thought-provoking discussion on ASEAN’s approach to the Myanmar crisis.
