The Faculty of Social Sciences is set to warmly welcome its new student cohort for the 2023/2024 academic year during a comprehensive convocation event spanning from September 25 to 27. This incoming group, brimming with potential and ambition, comprises students enrolled in the MA in Political Science, Ph.D. in Political Science, and the Master of Public Policy (MPP) specializing in Climate Change.

A key feature of this year’s convocation is the leadership training scheduled for September 26, led by the esteemed Niruban Balachandran. This session promises to be a highlight for the new students, offering them not just insights into effective leadership but also invaluable skills that will serve them well in their academic and future professional endeavors.

The convocation culminates on September 27, a day dedicated to fostering a sense of community and belonging among the new students. They will have the opportunity to meet all faculty members, an essential step in building strong academic relationships. Furthermore, this day is designed to introduce the students to the various facets of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FOSS), acquainting them with the resources, opportunities, and vibrant academic culture that define their new educational home.

As the Faculty of Social Sciences embarks on this new academic journey, the excitement and optimism are palpable. The convocation days are not just formalities; they represent the beginning of a transformative journey for these aspiring scholars. Through these interactions and learning experiences, the faculty aims to equip its students with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to excel both during their time at the university and in their future careers, particularly in the ever-evolving fields of Political Science and Climate Change Policy.
