The first part of the workshop covers different ways to visualize and describe data. Some level of familiarity with R is expected. The module covers data management and R refresher, univariate description, and multivariate description. The second part of the workshop provides a basic understanding about causation in social science. What does it mean for X to cause or shape Y? While some basic statistical analysis such as means comparison is useful, no knowledge about regression is required. The second part will discuss limitations of observational data, how to think causally, and experimental designs.
