Introduction to Mixed Methods Research

Integrating Quantitative and Qualitative Approaches

Schedule:

  • 19 July (09:30 – 15:30)
  • 20 July (09:30 – 15:30)

About

In today’s age of limitless options, a researcher must be prepared to answer issues about balancing generalizability and specific area study. However, no single method appears to be sufficient to meet the serious demand for a comprehensive scientific approach. Researchers are increasingly inclined to embrace both quantitative and qualitative methods, or at least to use other methodologies to expand their explanation of a real-world situation. This two-day workshop provides an immersive investigation of the intersection of quantitative and qualitative approaches in research. Participants will explore issues such as:

  • Theoretical rationale for using mixed-methods.
  • Investigating the combination of large-scale quantitative research with small N-case qualitative investigations, as well as the opposite approach.
  • Thoroughly analyze both concurrent and sequential approaches

This course should provide participants with a holistic understanding of how to effectively blend these methodologies to produce robust research outcomes. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and practical examples, participants will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to design and implement mixed methods studies that capture the richness of both quantitative and qualitative data.
